Description
In 2020, like many across the world, we were trying to find ways to do fun things, stay sane and in our particular case, keep mom busy after open heart surgery during pandemic regulations. Eventually we settled on visiting as many Ohio State Parks as possible. I love to hike, so I armed myself with my camera, lenses and hiking boots. We then took as many roadtrips as possible. When the world opened up again, we had visited all of the Northeast Ohio State Parks, most of the Northwest and had just started visits to the southern and central areas. On October 17, 2020, we visited Guilford Lake State Park. The fall colors were at a peak and as we drove on County Highway 411 this tree was sitting at the top of a hill, boldly proclaiming Falls arrival. Naturally I turned off the road into Woodsdale Cemetery and proceeded to take some of my to date favorite Fall photographs. I am sure this tree, through many seasons has comforted those who have come to say goodbye to loved ones and provided a backrest to others who have visited those they are missing. It has definitely seen much and is for me a reminder of the circle of life. Although life on earth, just as the leaves of a tree, comes to an end, we can take comfort as Is. 40:8 reminds us, that God’s word remains, and as His word also promises, there is eternal life in Heaven after our time on earth.
Isaiah 40:8 KJV “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.”
2 Corinthians 5:1 KJV “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”
