About Yvonne M Smith
It is my aim and desire through photography to bring glory to God. The journey that took me there started with a Canon AE-1, my first "real" camera. Prior to that I was using instamatics from Kodak and any other camera I was able to get my hands on. I had taken the AE-1 from my Dad after seeing some pictures he had taken. My parents encouraged this new hobby by enrolling me, while I was still in High School, in a college photography course. That Christmas they bought me a new Canon AE-1P, this time it was programmable! This led to majoring in photography at Bowling Green State University. I started out in Photojournalism, but soon realized I was drawn more to the artistic aspects. After college I was able to work as a Photographer at a Portrait Studio. This was a huge blessing in teaching about posing and looking for details. Although I did not remain there, over the last 20 years I have continued to use every opportunity possible to take pictures. This has led to wedding photography, graduations, senior portraits, family photos, and of course animals and travels. Each type of photography brings its own challenges, but it continues to be a fun learning experience and I do not believe I will ever be done growing and learning new photography skills.
